Day 2
After a good night’s sleep wake up and go to the rooftop for an amazing breakfast overlooking the pyramids.
Today you will be exploring the diverse capital of Egypt. You will begin your journey by taking a small bus with A/C to Saqqara, home to the first pyramid ever built by the Egyptians…the Step Pyramid of Djoser. The Step Pyramid of Djoser is the oldest pyramid in Egypt, built 4,700 years ago by the legendary architect Imhotep. You will also visit the elaborately decorated Tomb of Mereruka, the Pyramid of Teti which boasts one of the oldest pyramid texts ever discovered. Wrap up your sightseeing in Saqqara with a visit to Imhotep Museum before heading to the Giza Plateau.
Once you arrive at the Giza Plateau you will first visit a panoramic viewpoint to take in the most amazing picturesque view overlooking the Great Pyramids. So make sure you bring your camera because this is a view you never want to forget. Next, you will get to explore all three of the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing today. During your entire visit, you will be accompanied by an Egyptology expert who will lead you through the interior of Khufu. He will vividly describe its history, construction, and mythology. Last but not least you will then visit the Great Sphinx Temple and get amazing photos.
Afterward, you will have the rest of the day to enjoy exploring Giza. Grab a bite to eat from the many restaurants in town or explore a perfume shop. If you’re tired and would like to rest, the hotel is only a 3-minutes walk from the gate of the Pyramids.
During sunset, you will have the option to ride camelback or by ATV through the Giza Plateau to experience the beautiful sunset over the Pyramids
The ATV/camel ride duration: 1 hour – This is an optional excursion and will be an extra cost.
