Breakfast. We left early for ALEXANDRIA. Arrival. We include city tour through the city. We start to visit the Alexandrian port to visit the Citadel of Qaitibay. This defensive complex was built in the 15th century by Sultan Qaitibay, on the exact same spot where the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria once stood. Then we will visit the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa. The bas-reliefs on the site, one of the most outstanding in Alexandria, show the fusion between Egyptian and Greco-Roman cultures. Very close to these catacombs we come across the Column of Pompey, located in the place where the temple dedicated to the Greek-Egyptian god Serapis was located. Lunch included. Afterwards, we approach one of the most relevant modern buildings in the city: the New Library of Alexandria. It emerged as a tribute to the ancient space that gathered thousands of papyri and parchments, which constitutes one of the most important cultural spaces in the eastern Mediterranean. Early in the morning, we leave for SIWA, a historic oasis and one of the most spectacular in Egypt. Located just 50 km from the border with Libya, Siwa is located in the middle of the Sahara desert, surrounded by a sea of dunes and palm trees. Siwa's geographic isolation has helped to protect a unique society that clearly distinguishes itself from mainstream Egyptian culture. Today, local traditions and Siri, the local Berber language, still dominate. We will stop at MARSA MATRUTH for rest. Arrive at the hotel in Siwa, check-in, and rest. At night, you can walk around the city founded in the 13th century and inhabited until 1926, when three days of storms seriously damaged the buildings inside. The main attraction is the spectacular Shali Fortress and the shops that surround it with their unique handicrafts, made mainly of salt and many colors. In these mountains, it is possible to find marine fossils from when the desert was the sea. In the afternoon we enter the GRANDE MAR DE AREIA, a desert area of the Sahara of 72,000 square kilometers that has the third-largest dune field in the world and in which Siuá acts as the northern entrance. In a 4X4 car, we will start our great adventure! Our experienced driver will take us on an exciting ride through the desert of dreams. We will stop at a small lake of cold water, where we can see fish. Anyone who wants can cool off and relax a little. We will continue with our adventure, going up and down the dunes to a hot spring with therapeutic properties. We'll enjoy a bath there too. On-site there are jams to change clothes and bathrooms. Our guide will take us sandboarding and prepare typical dessert teas over a campfire while watching the magical sunset over the famous Sahara desert. An image that will undoubtedly remain in our memory forever! By car, we will continue to the camp to taste our delicious typical Berber dinner. Bedouins cook food in containers under the desert sand. Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will make a very interesting excursion. We head to SALT LAKE, where there are saltwater pools where you can float like in the Dead Sea. Local residents say these pools have therapeutic properties. Then we will head to the ORACLE TEMPLE, where Alexander the Great was in 331 BC. to receive the blessings of the gods to rule Egypt. This pharaonic temple has a different architecture than what we usually see on the cruise. In addition, it has a beautiful landscape located on top of a mountain. On the way to Cleopatra's spring, we will visit the TEMPLE OF AMON (Umm Ubayd), almost completely destroyed, but its location among the palm groves makes us feel part of history. Arrival and visit to CLEOPATRA FOUNTAIN, where legend has it that she bathed there. We have tea and rest in one of the cafes and shop for handicrafts in the local shops. Return to hotel and lodging.
