The Valley of the Golden Mummies is an archaeological site located in the Western Desert near the city of Fayoum in Egypt, dating back to the Roman era. Discovered in 1996, more than 250 well-preserved mummies were found in this valley, some of which were covered in gold leaf or decorated with ornaments. The valley is renowned for offering a rare glimpse into the mummification rituals of the time period, as the mummies contained evidence of special care and rituals associated with death and the afterlife. The discovery is one of the largest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century.
