The Unfinished Obelisk is an ancient monument located in Aswan, Egypt, and is considered one of the largest obelisks ever attempted. It was commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut during the 18th Dynasty but was never completed due to cracks that appeared in the stone during its construction. The obelisk was carved directly out of the bedrock and would have measured about 42 meters (137 feet) in height if finished, weighing an estimated 1,200 tons.
